Hemp for Modern Day Clothing

This is from a friend. eartharmy.com hopes to use hemp materials in the future if we can find a labor friendly organic supplier of t-shirts. If you know of one that is labor friendly from start to finish and organic post the info here and we’ll look into it. Thank you! Please check out Mark’s links.

Also, if you have a band, a design you want to turn into at least 20 shirts, or workplace that orders t-shirt uniforms and/or hats. Consider ordering and working with http://justgowest.com .

Hemp for Modern Day Clothing

Hemp has a long, long history for use as a fabric. It was the only sail material strong enough to endure harsh ocean conditions. It was the material of choice for the cover of covered wagons. It was also the material of choice for the first pair of levi & strauss jeans.

What makes hemp such a good fabric for these various applications and more?

It is the longest natural fiber of all plants. It is also the strongest. Hemp has a high thermal conductivity which means it has good insulating qualities to keep us cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It blocks harmful UV light and it softens with wear.

Today, hemp is blended with organic cotton, silk, wool, lycra, and other fibers like recycled plastic. These blends range from heavy-duty, rugged material to super-light and wispy fabrics. Every article that we wear, from underwear, socks, and shoes to shirts, slacks and jackets are produced from hemp blends.

Hemp products currently cost more than non-hemp alternatives. This is because hemp is currently illegal to grow in the US and must be shipped from Europe and Asia. Prices will drop as Hemp farming becomes prevalent here again. Still, paying more for an article of hemp clothing is fine - it will likely last far longer than non-hemp alternatives and cost less in the long run.

There is no better natural choice than hemp for today’s modern clothing. Demand it everywhere.

Happy New Years!! To my favorite blog, hopefully no tactical body armor is required with all those idiots firing their automatic weapons above their heads.

I saw on the news there is a controversy over whether the world should refer to the new year as twenty-ten or two thousand ten. Which one do you think sounds more appropriate?
